I hadn't heard the taking-apart analogy before, but it will stick with me - very powerful.

And if I could choose, I'd be the cat right next to you, sleeping in that same sunny patch. And it was my parents who disowned her for a while, especially when she had the audacity to remarry. All that hypocrisy inherent in such a belief system pushed me right out the door.

So, I get it about your journey on many levels. Buddhism and atheism can coexist nicely, I believe. Religion offers a framework for thought, and so does science. It's the ability to reason out a thoughtful, peaceful journey that really sets humans apart and what should nudge us toward a more caring way of living in this world.

Thank you for sharing your journey.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07633583410829524075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24806308.post-87096919971059181392012-09-01T17:46:30.891-07:002012-09-01T17:46:30.891-07:00Sometimes I think that being Buddhist -- or at lea...Sometimes I think that being Buddhist -- or at least practicing and believing some of its principles -- is the only way to live in this crazy old world.

If I come back, though, I'm going to be a surfer.Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03313726816776097840noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24806308.post-51481816550971983352012-09-01T15:39:40.254-07:002012-09-01T15:39:40.254-07:00Dear Kari, I can always depend on you to provoke t...Dear Kari, I can always depend on you to provoke the thinking mechanism in this body of mine! Your postings--really mostly philosophical reflections on life today--always make me stop and consider or stop and observe or stop and wonder. And I thank you for that.

Like you, I've been on a spiritual journey all my life. I also find myself drawn to Buddhism. It is there I find the Oneness that speaks to me of my connection to all creation. Then it is that I stop and consider my next words to someone or the gentleness with which I take my groceries out of the bag or the way I step over the grass.

For me, life is Mystery and while sometimes the Mystery reveals a part of itself to me, most often I see only a sliver of blue behind the cloud of unknowing. But that is enough to keep me on this path to the fullness of humanity. Peace. Deehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00612299013780771262noreply@blogger.com
