I'm always getting chastised by people who critique my work for my varied sentence structure and length, so it's nice to see someone else unafraid of a 20-word sentence! Additionally the content is divine. It does appear sometimes that it's a time when no one communicates, when in fact, we communicate more than ever. It's depth of communication that's lacking.Nichole L. They are essential to communication, to connection, to life, really. I enjoyed this, most certainly.Laura@Catharsishttp://findcatharsis.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24806308.post-15469484214808367602011-09-09T20:04:10.209-07:002011-09-09T20:04:10.209-07:00I love the title of this post! And the idea that ...I love the title of this post! And the idea that communication is the reason/purpose for why we write. I am reminded of the boxes of journals I have on shelves in my house, that no one has read. Who was I communicating with? Myself!

I also had the sweet pleasure of having my oldest daughter (at age 22) discover my journals of her babyhood, and she became so enthralled that she sat on the floor of my sewing room (as I sewed her "birthday" dress) and read for hours. That was something I didn't expect while I was still alive, and it was so sweetly fulfilling for me.

You also made me think about "new" communicating, IM, facebook, etc. It certainly is making connections, and that is a good thing!Sandihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15923693784234135636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24806308.post-62466140427809049602011-09-09T05:40:32.854-07:002011-09-09T05:40:32.854-07:00And the wonder is that across centuries our story ...And the wonder is that across centuries our story can touch the heart and mind and life of another human being.

And also that our story, written in English, can be translated into any other language in which a person writes and thinks and speaks. Then understanding spans the distance between us and the seeming language barrier is broken.

We do write to communicate and to seek out, as the poet Frost said, "the desert places" within one another.

There is, for me, a Oneness here of all creation.

Thank you, Kario, for this thought-provoking posting and also for your comment on my blog. I think your decision about your daughters is a wise one.

Peace.Dee Readyhttp://www.cominghometomyself.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24806308.post-12621808241280257902011-09-08T21:26:05.078-07:002011-09-08T21:26:05.078-07:00Beautiful essay --

Wild to think of all the changes that we've been through in a relative short period of time.

Best line goes to (drum roll)... "Not everyone will read my words, and not all who read them will agree on their accuracy or importance, but the simple knowledge that language and discourse has stood the test of time and will find its way through like a weed in the sidewalk grounds me."Annie Boresonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05665524872940995351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24806308.post-36315065261063278792011-09-08T15:06:43.123-07:002011-09-08T15:06:43.123-07:00Absolutely!Absolutely!Carrie Wilson Linkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01586157395539583862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24806308.post-63428572319816836842011-09-08T13:53:15.150-07:002011-09-08T13:53:15.150-07:00You're right....the need to communicate and ex...You're right....the need to communicate and express ourselves is a very strong one. Be it writing, music, art, dance....it's all expression and communication. Interesting to think about. Some may say today that FB and email and the internet aren't "real" communication, that they actually separate us more because we substitute it for face-to-face communication. I don't agree. It's all relative to how we live now. Very thought-provoking post!Michael Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08085444510827793704noreply@blogger.com
